Windows Live Messenger for Chat Support
Article Last Updated : 12 February 2010 @ 0:48 by Adrian
For some of the SME, it might be very costly to sign up for online support php packages where the plug in is punched into the particular website so that live chat / online support is possible. I would say Windows Live Messenger had done it again! Bravo! They now allow us to put a Windows Live Messenger mini chat window anywhere on our website / blog.
So, clients, would feel more personal and dedicated when dealing with the technical support staff.
Below is a guide on how to set it up. Of course, you must first have a Windows Live ID. Windows Live ID can be your MSN Hotmail, MSN Messenger, or Passport account.
Step-by-Step Guide :
1. From your browser, go to http://settings.messenger.live.com/applications/websettings.aspx.
2. Check/enable the option “Allow anyone on the Internet to see my online status and send me messages”.

3. After that, click on the “Save” button at the top bar of the page to save the setting. Once that is done, click on the “Create HTML” link located at the left column of the page. Now, you have 2 options how to display your Windows Live status on your website/blog. Select either the status icon, or the web messenger control, depending on your own taste or preference.
4. After that, simply copy and paste the generated HTML code in your website/blog template.
