Racism issue… Worsened…

This is gonna be a plain text post. I am here to voice out, responding to some of my readers email asking me why I am not writing / responding / giving any feedback about the video Namewee made. I am sure some of you guys out there know Namewee, a dude from Muar currently based in KL.. Well, I firstly, would like to make a clear statement here, I am not affiliated to any bodies in writing the following text, nor being supportive or non-supportive to what he has done.

Lately, there were few human figures – Puan Hajah Siti Inshak Mansor (one of the prominent figure), principle of SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, Kulai. In a meaningful event in conjunction of the Merdeka celebration, she allegedly used racist remarks against non-Malay students.

Excerpts from Malaysia Today :

Pelajar-pelajar Cina tidak diperlukan dan boleh balik ke China ataupun Sekolah Foon Yew. Bagi pelajar India, tali sembahyang yang diikat di pergelangan tangan dan leher pelajar nampak seakan anjing dan hanya anjing akan mengikat seperti itu.”

Her actions reflected her as an uneducated being, playing a role of the principle of this school ? Something has to be done… She has discriminated the other 2 races publicly. Well relating back to my blog post today, Namewee created a video entitled “Nah!” to reprimand her acts. In my opinion, what he is doing now is creating or rather worsening the whole racism issues in Malaysia, BN had lost in the previous election and PM stated that they lost votes from the Chinese and Indian community. What is to be improved when another issue of racism is raised when the previous challenge on the election was not resolved yet.

Namewee, to me, he discriminated his own race. Being a self-proclaimed nationalist, who doesn’t like racism, he should handle it in a correct manner. Applying for legal DEMO? Not by just using “big dirty” words in the video. That reflects Namewee as an uneducated, uncivilized person like the principle. Racism issues should be held with a proper way. He might have good intention to realize people about it but this is totally a wrong channel to go into it. He was arrested once when produced the video “Negaraku-ku”, and he openly apologized to the public, all the community accepted his apology with an opened heart and looks like he didn’t really mean it in that apology. He is doing it AGAIN..

We are hoping the Government to find a solution with a win-win situation. meanwhile I would suggest all parties not to cause any further political tension. Lemme share something, I do have my best friend from Indian and Malay race, but I am still who I am today sharing my moments with them too. Not all Malays behave like Siti Inshak, neither not all Chinese behave like Namewee. We living in a multi-racial country should always embrace unity within us.. Me and Khairi are great net friends and also client relationship. We share a lot of things too and share our moments. This is what Malaysia is all about

namewee do ntg wrong, just his “Nah” MV too rude XD

  2. Adrian says:

He did nothing wrong.. But you think that is right ? I think his intention was right.. But delivery methodology totally wrong and causing political tension to whole Malaysia now. It is going from bad to worse all thanks to him

  3. teera says:

well.. there NOT a right action when u are trying to express ur thought with rude words there are better solution… using that kind of action just to show you that you are just another”someone” -uneducated- individual~

  4. Adrian says:

Totally agree with you.. that’s why he disgrace his own race..

  5. Jack says:

1st of all.. f**k Haji Siti Inshak… Namewee said out all the thing tat i wanted to say… you screw yourself as a principle.. wat a shame!!
Im not saying tat all Malay are behaving like this.. but some of them is very F**KING RACIST!!!.. Our PM sure very sad tat his 1Malaysia plan almost fail..
To our racist malay people.. you currently live in 21st century.. but ur thinking don remain at ur ‘Zaman Keris’..

  6. Adrian says:

I am sad too seeing his plan of 1 Malaysia going down anytime. Siti Hajah is wrong but so does Namewee. His action reflected him nothing better than someone who discriminate the other race

  7. teera says:

people who giving a negative feedback well… just like adding gasoline into the fire… making it worse.. we are 1 malaysia since the day 31st august 1953… im not siding anyone here i just being nuetral… =)

  8. KP says:

    support Namewee..=)

  9. Adrian says:

Owh you are one being from other world here so far xD

  10. Adrian says:

Totally true .. Being 1 Malaysia or not does not matter. Even without the 1 malaysia campaign does not mean you can attack verbally towards other races.. Same goes to Namewee, again, I would say his acts is totally unbearable

  11. teera says:

lolx… cant be siding anyone… hahax everyone have its own mistake… =)

  12. Adrian says:

true enough.. no one is perfect.. let’s see how he will solve this

  13. teera says:

yes i feel bad for both races thou… how could it be like this… to show how the 2 “blood” running in me can act such in low way..

  14. YF says:

true that Namewee’s actions are nothing to be proud of but if proper channel to express our opinions were effective or even worked, there’s no way these kind of videos would have been recorded in the first place. Namewee is like a bomb that exploded after we the citizens have been suppressed for 20++ years? What other ways we could use? Hope and rely on the government? We’ve done that for 50 years…

  15. teera says:

    shall wait and see =]

  16. Adrian says:

You are different i would say since you are siding no one.. You at least are able to see what is happening before supporting someone blindly

  17. Adrian says:

I would not give any comments on this but rather would say, it all depends how you convey your message. They are outside there many non-malays politician or rather MPs who are able to delivery people’s voice to the Cabinet..

  18. nicdanic says:

that statement…really shocked me.and my opinion is, if they can voice out such racist remark statement, why can’t we? just the way of conveying it in a little bit harsh.however, we are not comparing whether who is harsh or not. We are looking at, why people that make racist remark is not being captured but people that fight against that remark is in the jail now.I am not asking for people to fight against each other. But, I feel this principle… really having great problem in terms of her mindset and thinking.. the issue raised when non-muslims eat during recess time. I feel that’s nothing wrong.

I share a little story of mine.Last two weeks, I had a little great picnic with my friends aka my breakfast. I went to the co-op, and I bought the Biscuit to share and a milo for myself. When I pay it, the cashier -showing a very bad face.I was like so stunned and I was like giving all the things that I purchased and as for refund. I was like going to scold her. I was thinking, “If you don’t like, then don’t sell to me, close your shop and you earn lesser I still can buy elsewhere.”
But that’s not going to hurt me. because that’s her perception that I am not respecting them during fasting month. However, we guys eat in a quite open place, and at the moment, there’s not a single person passed by. Until the moment, there’s a pak cik that mowed the grass. And he told me,

“Tak pe, tak pe. kamu orang tak puasa kan. Kalau tak puasa mana boleh tak makan? pak cik tak mind benda-benda ni.” then we continue to eat . then we had a little chat. We shared our background for around 15 mins. This shown that, not everyone is not considerate and always put themselves and blame other people by their own faulty and failure. This kind of perception should be changed. We learnt to be tolerate and sometimes, the factual of the statement should be checked whether it is correct a not. for me, counselling and tindakan( what kind of tindakan) is not enough.

I also berbuka puasa with my friends, even though I don’t puasa actually due to some health problem (esp severe gastric ).and sometimes, i eat at 6p.m and my friends are talking with me just when I am eating and he don’t really care about that. This is the month for him to build solid patience and self-discipline.

    That’s all from me.

To those who try to make racist remark again,
    Jangan kacang lupakan kulit.

  19. Adrian says:

Very firm and well said nic!!! I love the way you express it.. Esp the last idiom > Jangan Kacang Lupakan Kulit.. And ya!! Pak Cik .. Thumbs up to you !!

  20. sonnykazu says:

Please not to repeat the same thing happens back in 13 May 1967… just because of those self-stubborn racists… Wake up!!! Where are you standing now? You’re standing on the land of Malaysia…! Think about it properly though…

  21. Adrian says:

YES.. learn from mistake.. but he don’t seem to be doing that

  22. David says:

    There’s no wrong and right.
    Everyone has it own opinion.

There’s people who think Namewee is too rude.
    Uneducated and Uncivilized.

But There’s people who think that He’s Brave.
He stand out to the public and scold whoever he want.

Sometimes we need people to stand out first.
Even though his action a bit in the wrong direction but……
He had makes the first move and stand firm on his opinion.
He did not want people who look down on his race and his people.

    SO…
    No ones wrong and correct.

The only one i know is wrong is the sohai “Haji Siti Inshak”.

    Agree then Hi Five!!

  23. JoyceW says:

Sighh..this is my opinion of the two people you mentioned.

    1. Haji Siti Inshak
She is close minded and uncivilised. An uneducated person most likely would not even say the things she said. She should speak for herself and not for her race (because I’m pretty sure not all Malays think like her). She has brought shame to the Malays and created unnecessary hostility among Malaysians. Should be ignored.

    2. Namewee
This fellow is an attention seeking wannabe who is capitalising on this issue to get more attention. Obviously he has not had enough from his Negaraku-ku ‘fame’ period. Yea, he can claim he is doing this to defend Malaysians and expressing his opinions through music and freedom of expression…WHATEVER. But I see it as seizing opportunity. And his actions really don’t help the situation. Also should be ignored.

This racism issue has been an unpredictable ‘volcano’ in our midst. All it takes is some uncouth remarks to trigger the ‘explosion’ and cause a big hu-ha among us. This is a serious problem which should be dealt with from the core. Not with fancy slogans which we write in banners and posters, shout on TV, sing in songs but don’t mean it.

*I do not hold any grudges against any race in this case. I just feel frustrated with the PERSON-s. Judge by character and not by skin colour, please.

  24. jfook says:

Racism issue is a never ending topic in our country. Sad life.

  25. Karthik says:

What the hell? Im surprised that the government/ISA didnt take any actions on that lady !!! WOW man….. wat a country !!

How can she talk like that ?

  26. Adrian says:

See david!! You are going to be another namewee with that word.. Yes her deeds were wrong but namewee was nothing better.. I agree with you that he is brave but just that her channel of delivery was wrong.

  27. Adrian says:

Joyce > Both has brought unnecessary chaos and shame to the whole mutli-racial community..

  28. Adrian says:

Jfook > What to do ? Just hope that ppl will be thinking more matured

  29. Adrian says:

Karthik > True!! If ISA were to be imposed, Namewee should not be excluded in this too. That’s what you call fair and square.

  30. harrysuke says:

just now my brah told me about this blog post. he ask me to post my view on this topic. when i finish reading it, i know it’s too sensitive for me to post my view since i know there will be some of the readers who might disagree.

so i had a chat with my brah on this matter and about the feeling of uneasiness in my part… after a long conversation we concluded that both Haji Siti Inshak (misspell intended) and Namawee are U.N.E.D.U.C.A.T.E.D.

they should take us (Adrian and I) as model example. so please, 1 Malaysia everyone.

  31. Adrian says:

Great one khairi.. oh, if you guys don’t get it why is he calling be “brah” it means brother / bro actually.. Yeap, he’s the one I was saying on my blog, colour does make us different, is the mentality that unite us..

  32. Cat says:

Such a brainless headmaster, not even eligible to become the head of any school. Although Namewee is rude, but all the facts he mentioned are true. I personally don’t like that headmaster and the teacher that tells them about the Air Asia thing. I thought their job is to teach their students to be good, and nice to everyone, and not to be racism? Stupid la!! What if I’m the headmistress of the school, and talk about the same thing to the Malays? They will have the same feeling! The headmaster is really brainless!!

  33. Adrian says:

Cath, true.. they are really uneducated.. Both parties are wrong and I think namewee shouldn’t be a dumb on following other’s footsteps

  34. JH says:

    Totally agree..

  35. Adrian says:

yeap.. Don’t be typical china-man thinking and create another ‘wave’

  36. Anonymous says:

But don’t you feel ashame too as a chinese you are not helping your own community.. at least support him. I don’t like your post.. You are doing the wrong way

  37. Adrian says:

There is nothing wrong with me.. maybe we have different opinions after all

  38. me says:

that is not a supporting or not supporting own community’s problem. it’s like if you support your own side, it’s nothing wrong, but the problem will still exist. cause it’s just like a gang of people that trying to fight back to the one that says bad things about their community, this will only make worsen the problem.

  39. Adrian says:

thanks for the reply cath!! what you say is very true enough.. Fighting back is not wrong, but fighting back with the proper channel is way better

  40. Edmund says:

Actually namewee wouldnt produce that video if government is taking appropriate action against siti. it jus shows how bias government is. when namewee produced, he got caught like almost immediately. i think what namewee did was just representing what we(majority of us) wanna say truly from our heart long ago, just that he has the guts to express it publicly and again, focus should be on siti, one that started the mess. but maybe like u say, he should handle it in a correct manner =)

  41. Adrian says:

edmund bro!! He didn’t get caught / lockup la.. he was asked to produce a statement / testify himself only .. in TTDI Police Station.. Anyway he wanna represent the chinese community , true but should be done the right manner.. ^^ cheers bro
