KL – Kuantan (Pahang) – Kijal (Terengganu) – Day 1

Greetings people!! =] I’m blogging from Awana Kijal. Just a short description about Awana Kijal. Basically it’s nothing more than the well known hotel managed under the Genting group of hotels. That’s the hotel me and my family will be staying in. Let’s see how is it after my 3 hours plus drive later.

Waking up early in the morning at 6.15, all thanks to my mom for waking me up. Ok I shouldn’t say it as do I am blaming her. Nevertheless, I woke up and get bath after dad’s turn. After that, get my hair styled (ps. My hair style is the most important asset to me when I am stepping my feet out of my house)

Stopped by at Petronas MRR2 to fill petrol and guess what, my bro and I got ourselves each a sandwich. After that, passing by the McD near to the entrance of Karak highway, we stopped by to have our breakfast. Since there’s 7-eleven beside it, mom and I got a box of mihun and nasi lemak respectively.

There starts our journey on a gloomy fly-day. It was raining all along the way I was driving. I didn’t like the way from Batu Caves until Karak. Roads are winding and I couldn’t go fast either. It was full of fog. Finishing the path from Batu Caves till Karak then we entered the Lebuhraya Pantai Timur highway. Now!! This highway is very similar to North-South Highway and guess what its 110km/h. It’s easier not to be afraid of over-speeding.

Reaching Kuantan town at around 11+ and tried calling Zheng Si for some guide but he is not picking up. I later found out that he was with his friends in Bukit Cahaya. So with no clues, and raining and jam, we left the town and headed to Kijal with another approximately 80km journey. It was just normal federal trunk road, cars some of them are insane where they overtook each other even on a single-double lane.

We reached here around 12+ and we are already starving for lunch. Went to GrandView Café, its just a short distance walk from the hotel. I saw this restaurant named “Pertama” which is just behind of this café but it doesn’t look fascinating. It was E.M.P.T.Y… technically no one but only the workers (I am wondering was it over-staffed)

After lunch we checked in the hotel and took a rest then headed to the swimming pool. It was still raining. Oh my!! It’s not a pleasant trip I had a feeling. Came back up here around 5+ and then took our shower headed to Cukai town. We were rounding over it and found out many shops are either not opened or just a few people sitting there. Finally we found a Chinese restaurant – River Bend, but it was too crowded, so we went to the restaurant just a few shops next to it – Sim Bing Kee. We tried out the famous stuffed crab here. It was quite a nice dish though. And ya one thing, you don’t have to worry if you are short-sighted, the road signs here are freaking big and clear.

We went back to the hotel after our dinner and now let’s talk about the hotel. It’s called Awana Kijal Golf, Beach & Spa Resort in full name. It had a gold range, spa, beach, swimming pool, several café and the one that drive my attention to it was the Italian Café located just next to the swimming pool (near the Jacuzzi). In the foyer, it was furnished with a dolphin water fountain and indeed it looks very nice especially when it was seen from the top. For recreation, it had a large snake-and-ladder engrave on the ground and some giant western chess. It also has few ballroom that holds for functions like annual dinner and weddings.

As for the rooms, I was really amazed with the design of the washing area (WC, bathroom and bath tub) – it was really nice. WiFi here is charged reasonably at RM25 for per 24-hour session of surfing. And also, staffs over here are being very informative and helpful (Yuzaidah)

Thanks to Genting for giving discount voucher. How to get this, be a Genting worldcard member. That’s it. Coolness. For more information, log on to Awana Kijal Official Website

That’s all for today. Look at some pictures I took. It might or might not appear in time. I am using Maxis 3G to blog.
