Going Bling is the New Pink

After finishing up all my chores, I rang up Hui Yi and met her up at 1 Utama Stabucks (Old Wing). Too bad Kk was having class. And Eric was also having class at 2 (he was still sleeping when I called him). So she settled down at Starbucks, and we Google-ed what to eat in 1 Utama, surprisingly, we found this shop called New York New York Deli (near to Cold Storage at New Wing 1 Utama), yet, something we find it new in 1 Utama.

It was really a warm welcome by the staffs there, greeting us as we walked in and ws seated politely. On top of that, sky juice was served before ordering. That’s something very good. Thumbs up! So yeah, Hui Yi ordered 2 mushrooms dishes and I ordered a meatball bolognaise. It was served with minced-meat on top but somehow i like it. The highlight was the giant meatballs. Barvo!! The stand outside the restaurant attracted me to try it out. According to the order taker, it would only take 10 minutes to serve all the ordered food. I was really impressed. We were chatting there meanwhile and also – camewhoring! =] It was really a relaxing monday and nice one I had. Was long time ago since I accompanied hui yi to really shop.

Just right after 10 minutes, all the food are served nicely in front both of us. We were really impressed. The fried button mushroom and the needle mushroom were the best. Also my beef ball bolognaise. They were being so attentive to each and every table of customer and would clear the empty plates after finishing them. More space to move around and more comfortable to talk.

So yeah, we finished up our meal and left. Hui Yi footed the bill. Thanks a lot yeah!! =] It was really a worth-it meal. Anyway, upon leaving the restaurant, we were greeted with Thank You from all the staffs and we felt really warm. I would definitely make my second visit here. We went to shop. Mostly huiyi shopped. She got a new purse from roxy in QuikSilver.

Ok, roxy was just first stop, we went to Pull and Bear, ZARA, G2000, PDI, all lots more, almost all the boutique. Oh yeah Nike and Studio R too. And also BONITA, i tried out that wrist ring. weird name for it. BONITA was the shop where Hui Yi once upon a time buy her necklace and ear rings. LOL donkey years ago.. So before we went home, we went go Gelato Fruity. I got myself a Tiramisu and she wanted a Sour Soup. It was on me this time. Oh yeah, she would probably be on cloud 9 by the time she reaches home, i got her the TP-LINK wifi receiver. Hope the signal is fine.

Let’s get back into the topic in regards to my post title > Going Bling is the new Pink. In all the boutiques we went it. I noticed to common thing, blings are all over the shirt (new arrival) and purple stripes seems to be the new design for the current fashion trend. Not only shirts you can find it, wallets, hand bags, purse everything seems to be bling-ed!!!

But do be careful of all these, some of them can get rusted as they are just coated with aluminium. Don’t be shocked if you get a hand bag with those blings at hundreds and end up rusted within few months. Let’s not think i am just condemning the brand – ZARA, HuiYi had a bag with those nicely-look bling when first bought and rusted so quickly. Not to mention she was not entertained by the ZARA staff where she bought it. She was pissed and i felt helpless and disappointed with ZARA. Selling high price giving low-quality goods.

Let me drive to understand Bling more. Bling is a synonym for expensive, often flashy jewellery sported mostly by African American hip-hop artists and middle class Caucasian adolescents.

If you’ve got ‘the bling bling’ then its likely that you’re cruising round town in your Bentley literally dripping with diamonds, gold chains and anything else that can be flashed around to show off your excessive wealth and style.

You’d think ‘bling bling’ would be the domain of Hollywood stars and the uber-rich, but it’s more of a nouveau riche thing. Coined by rap artist Baby Gangsta in the late ‘90’s, bling bling has been adopted by hip hop stars like Big Brovaz (“Gotta get a crib, gotta get a car, get a diamond ring….When I’m stepping up all you see is bling bling”) and the self-styled King of the Bling Bling, Ali G.

If you’re going to dress bling, think Dolce & Gabbana, Versace (Liz Hurley scored top bling points for her Versace safety pin dress) and Gucci. When it comes to accessories, the only names on the bling set’s lips are Louis Vuitton (bags and luggage) Cartier for sparklies and Manolo Blahnik for shoes.

Earlier this year, “bling” went from being just another hip hop term to being an official part of the English language. The Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English has included “bling” in its book of modern buzzwords. Bling joins other hip hop terms like “dope,” “whack”, and “bootylicious”.

Bling is about flash, splashing out, showing off, not just keeping up with the Joneses, but leaving them in your dust, so make like J Lo get some bling bling action going on this weekend!
