Optimizing Email Messaging
Type: Tips & Tricks Tags: Email, Solutions, Enterprise 2.0 Author: by Adrian C

It is common for us to deal with hundreds of emails daily and yes, you have to be highly attentive when attending to your emails especially those requesting for high priority technical support. However, in many cases, emails get missing in your inbox (probably you moved it to another folder) or accidentally marked as "read" and you were not aware of not (maybe not yet) attending to it.

Often in managing large projects, incoming emails can be overloaded especially when the email conversation is being "replied to all" – so even with a one line text, the conversation thread will be accumulated. Well, using thread view could be the best practice for you now but ever thought of when the conversation grows even bigger than you could imagine? Try using a corporate wiki platform? Your call!

Recently, we received an email, asking us very simple technical related question regarding SEO and Web Solution, together with a few to-do items. To our astonishment after reading the three pages long (standard A4 size) email, we thought the message could be delivered at most in a two paragraphs (half of a standard A4 size). Needless to say, the long email was not circulated to the team but rather summarized it before passing it over as they may not be reading it entirely. So think! Are your emails so long that may annoy the recipient when reading it?

SEO & Social Network
Type: Tips & Tricks Tags: SEO, Social Media, Enterprise 2.0 Author: by Adrian C

As we indulge ourselves more into this unit, we will learn that both blogging as well as social media broadcasting strategies, to certain extent, they are overlapping each other. Enterprises in today’s world are continuously upgrading themselves to keep up with the rapid-growing technology. As part of the title above reads, “web 2.0″ did not come about from no where; it came from web 1.0 of course.

It is crucial for you to understand what has evolved from the web 1.0. When the World Wide Web (www) was created, users interact with webpages by just reading content as what was published, in which it was a one-way communication. Users do not interact with the webpages. Updating of the content in the webpages are done by webmaster / web designer of the organization. Now, this static manner of communication didn’t last long when social networks came into play, and that’s when the era of web 2.0 started.

Web 2.0 allows users to interact not only with the webpages / web system, but also collaborate with other users in a virtual hosted environment. This scenario can be closely related with the birth social media platforms like MySpace, Facebook, Friendster, Blogger, WordPress and etc. Wikis, too, are prominent examples found within the web 2.0 sphere whereby it allows anyone to add, edit and publish content. A wrap up to both of these web versions are that, web 1.0 is one way, authoritarian, passive, static and closed while web 2.0 is two-way, democratic, active, dynamic, and collaborative.

Optimizing Website Design
Type: Tips & Tricks Tags: Optimization, SEO, Marketing Author: by Adrian C

Being a webby (that's what I usually called people doing web jobs alot), I have been in the industry with some experience for more than 2 years, and I always believe in sharing a always a virtue of caring. In this line, they are many people sharing great tips with me too, so here's some tips and tricks to making a killer web design, solely my opinions and I do not condone anyone to practice this if not applicable.

Developers and designers nowadays are 2 distinctive roles in the web world. They play different roles too whereby a designer usually designs the layout / coming out with a concept for a website. The usual one are always scrollable from top to bottom, flash-enabled, so on and so forth. So have anyone tried horizontal scrolling ? It might attract your visitors to explore you more with interesting design work, you might also want to try using random scrolling whereby you can scroll diagonally and a vertical after a horizontal scroll or vice-versa. So here goes the first point, THE FLEXIBILITY IN PAGE SCROLL. Let's see what can we do next :

1. Fully utilize all possible white spaces

White space in between a page is always not good, but making it too filled up is not good too, therefore, optimizing the white space or any other spaces are always a good choice. You can always fill your spaces with images, graphics or a flash-animated object. Just bear in mind not to leave too much space in your page (page too short).

2. Turning your website navigation into a "Spot-Me" contest

Navigation friendly website keep your visitors longer on your website and tends to explore more. Let's take an example, if you are given a sea of small objects to identify, it needs to much patience to locate that one particular object. To make it navigational friendly, always place important links in a sitemap (also improves site SEO) and a main navigational bar (can be on the top, left or right region of the page). Never practice over complex navigation.

Retaining Clients with Value Added Services
Type: Tips & Tricks Tags: ITIL, Utility, Warranty, VAS, HTML, Coding Source: AdrianCJY.com Blog
The case study is inline with ITIL V3. One of my friends, client too, approached me yesterday and we were discussing about domain name transfer .. She felt it was being over charged by a web hosting company called E.. At first, requested to renew domain name, after first payment was made, requested to renew hosting as well ..

Why can't they just mention all the charges in one single bill, clients which are not IT-background sometimes get confused with the bundled services . So what we did, I requested an EEP code to perform a migration from them to 1.com.my - my company I am currently working as Project Manager.

My client sent an email stated very clearly to request for EEP code, unlock domain lock status, disable WHOIS ID Protection and update DNS server, yet when their customer support replied, all they care was asking my client's opinion on why moving out from them .. My client refused to share such information and requested again with the information and on top of that, she also stated clearly she do no wish to share any additional customer experience and do not wish the migration processed to be delayed.

At the same time, at my side as her registrar, I approach the live chat at E and requested to speed up . To my disappointment, with a live chat request and a clearly stated email , they still bother asking my client the reason she is moving out and being reluctant to not provide the EEP code .. So I would like to make a small heads up to all web hosting / domain name hosting client out there, YOU HAVE THE TOTAL RIGHTS TO REQUEST EEP CODE AND MOVE OUT FROM YOUR CURRENT REGISTRAR ANYTIME .. Here's the first chat which did not resolve anything but continuously asking for feedback the second time ..
